Dean & Britta hit Dunfermline

Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips will be performing the premiere of Dean & Britta: 13 Most Beautiful ... Songs for Andy Warhol's Screen Tests …in Scotland. Not in London. Not in Glasgow. Not in Edinburgh. The venue for this event is Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline, Fife.

Home of The Skids, Suicide played there twice with The Clash and Elvis Costello respectively. Nazareth and Fay Rezillo also hail from there. How do you think she got her name? For those overseas, "fae" means from in these here parts.

Quite a coup for this prestigious venue, the small capacity will make this an incredibly intimate event, you better grab those tickets fast, I’ll post link details soon so please stay tuned. A way more attractive proposition than standing in some field watching last year’s thing jump through hoops for a mucho paycheck.

“13” is a multi-media presentation where Dean and Britta perform onstage with their band while the Warhol films are projected overhead. A project jointly commissioned by the Andy Warhol Museum and Pittsburgh Cultural Trust for the Pittsburgh International Festival of Firsts 2008.

Wednesday 8 July 2009
Doors @ 8pm
Tickets £18 (full) £13 (concessions)
Available now from: http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/ or via 01383 602 302.

Superior class entertainment that offers sophisticated pop thrills in terms of art and music. If you're not familiar with Dean and Britta's music that’s perfectly OK. Check them out right here.

The recent Warhol exhibit in Edinburgh broke visitor records and this will undoubtedly be a hot ticket. Don't let the art crowd grab them all. So there you have it, Fife or France, what's it gonna be? This is certain to be the most exciting night in the kingdom since Ben Vaughn played The Path Tavern in Kirkcaldy.

Here's the latest news from The 1990s:

March 26: BBC 6 Music Mark Riley show live

ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE LOVES 1990s!
They say this about "The Box". "The Brit-pop trio storm back with one of their catchiest tunes yet. Over a giant thumping beat, Television -style guitar antics and raucous "ooohs" worthy of Gary Glitter's "Rock'n'Roll Part 2" singer Jackie McKeown delivers a brilliant kiss-off to a do-nothing mooch." 4 stars. Rest assured in the US Brit-pop means music coming from the UK not Camden's Good Mixer. Download "The Box" here for free: http://www.1990s.tv/audio/1990s_The%20Box.mp3

The Ray Summers - Tales from Vicar Street

"The Ray Summers are pleased to announce they will be releasing their debut EP, ‘Tales from Vicar Street’ on Monday April 20th 2009.

The EP will be released for download through our own website and myspace, mail order and for sale at gigs.

The EP will be free to download from the website (although the address seems to link back to MySpace at the moment) if you register or will cost £4 for a physical product.

If you download the EP from the website and register you will receive via email all four tracks along with a personalised artwork featuring a unique download number and your name.

The unique download number will also entitle you free tracks and gigs in the future.

We feel that delivering a debut EP is about getting your music heard and the best way to do this is to give it away to you for nothing.

We have had a listen to the first mixes of the tunes produced in conjunction with the guys at Monomen studios and we think you will like them because they sound HUGE! Have a look at our videos to see us in the studio. To complement the release of the E.P we will be touring up and down the country so we hope you can come along to see us live...get involved!

Love from The Boys.x x x"

There you go, support the finest thing to come out of Falkirk since the A904.

The Great Jock 'n' Roll Swindle - Reel to Reel Jockophony

We at Jocknroll are putting together a wee film. Quite simply we're trying to get as many Scottish singers and bands as possible to say they love Jocknroll. So far Norman Blake, Francis MacDonald, Duglas T Stewart, Rachel Allison and Jim Gellatly have all kindly given 5 seconds of their time (10 in Jim's case) and done their piece to camera.

Contact us through the website or send us a clip via the e-mail address on the Jocknroll website.

Homegame Festival, Anstruther 17-19 April

The Homegame Festival is Fence Records annual music event, that takes place in our hometown of Anstruther, in Fife. Over the course of three days there are performances from Fence Collective acts, as well as a range of other up-and-coming Scottish & UK acts, and a number of very special guests. The event now incorporates almost a dozen different venues scattered across Anstruther, and attracts an audience from all corners of the UK and beyond.

When is it happening?
This year's Homegame is taking place over Friday 17th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of April 2009. There'll be music on Friday evening (from 5pm til 12am), all day Saturday (1pm - 12am) and until early evening on Sunday (1pm - 8pm), spread out over various halls across the town of Anstruther.

What sizes are the venues? Will I get to see everything?
We're selling 700 tickets this year - which is the most we've ever tried to sell. The largest venue we are using has a capacity of 350 people - which means, once a hall reaches full capacity, we can't let anyone else in until it empties.

However, we're going to have a fair few venues open at the same time - so if one venue is full, you should make your way to the next venue and try to catch some music there. Despite selling more tickets, we're still going to have some venues that can only take in 50 people, or less, at a time - so please be considerate, and try not to stay in one venue all weekend!

What happens if I miss my favourite act perform?!
If you miss out on your favourite act - don't worry! We're gonna try and get most of the acts to play twice over the weekend, in different venues. Just to keep things interesting.

Are there day tickets?
There are no single-day tickets - only weekend tickets available. You have a choice of purchasing a regular Homegame ticket (£64.50 each + postage), or a SOOOPER DOOOOPER ticket (£74.50 each + postage)

Oh. What is a SOOPER DOOPER Homegame ticket?
It's basically the same as a Homegame ticket ... except you get a deluxe Homegame edition of King Creosote's forthcoming album, 'Flick The V's' - that comes with bonus tracks (and will retail individually at £12 each) ... PLUS ... you get exclusive access to a secret venue over the weekend.

How many tickets can I buy?
You can buy 5 of either type of ticket at any one time. There is no limit on the amount of times you can purchase tickets ... but touters be warned! Tickets won't be sent out until very close to the event, so don't even think about selling your tickets on eBay! OKAY??

Postage will be a flat £1.50 total for all ticket orders. If you buy one ticket, your postage cost will total £1.50. If you buy 5 tickets, your postage will total £1.50. That's nice, isn't it?

Who is playing?
There'll be a bunch of acts from the Fence Records label, as well as a lot of very special guests. You can find out about the line-up on our news page - www.fencerecords.com

Is there anything else I should know?
* This is a friendly festival - so you'll make tons of new friends! Especially stewards! They are fun!
* This is a friendly festival, so don't act like a dick. Especially to the stewards. They're just doing their job.
* Don't expect to get into every venue - as there's limited capacities.
* If you've bought tickets you should look into booking accommodation pretty sharpish. Crail, St Monans, Elie, Pittenweem and Cellardyke are all really close to Anstruther.

**DISCLAIMER**
LINE-UP IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
(but it probably won't change ... i just have to say that incase any of you complain!)

Jim Gellatly's New Music Podcast #21

Jim has given unleashed another excellent half hour of Jockanese treats upon an unsuspecting public.

Listen in as he bemoans the perils of being quoted out of time, plays tunes from old favourites (e.g. Camera Obscura and Sergeant) and introduces some young bucks, like The Shermans and Rieser. Glasgow Podcart, Irvine Welch and Dundee's answer to Milli Vanilli (sort of) guest star.

Tune in via iTunes or Radio Magnetic. You know it makes sense.
