Little Rock Records - Free Music giveaway

We received a nice e-mail from Liam at Little Rock Records and we're happy to plug this excellent venture as it celebrates it's second anniversary. Here's what he said:

"Hello Jocknrollers, this is Liam here from Little Rock Records in Glasgow, I hope you're well!

We're a download label in Glasgow specialising in digital 7inch releases, which we put up for free at www.littlerockrecords.com. We're mailing folk about our second birthday download singles giveaway, which you might be interested in writing about, or even listening to!

We're calling the giveaway TOO MUCH MUSIC!, in lieu with the song of the same name, but also cos to celebrate reaching two (and in concurrence with our love of "7") we've put

14 new free digital download singles online, taking the LR catalogue up to release number 50 - not bad for just two years! Each single comes with two tracks and artwork and we've managed to get some top tracks from some of the best up and coming artists in the Scottish alternative elecronica scene. It's pretty eclectic, covering disco, ambient, breakcore, jazz, techno, wonky hip-hop and more. Here's a list of the releases:

There's some more info on our MySpace (www.myspace.com/littlerockrecords) which also has links to pretty much all of the acts listed above's MySpaces. There's also ten tracks in the player from the above releases to check out. We're going to be putting the singles on Last FM too, our page there can be found at http://www.last.fm/label/Little+Rock+Records and we have a Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=105932138606

In case its needed, here's a bit of back story about Little Rock:

Inspired by Leipzig's Jahtari netlabel, Little Rock Records was officially launched on 07/07/07 with 7 digital 7 inch releases, with an aim to represent the best in Glasgow (and Scotland's) alternative electronica scene. Since then the label has released music by Tayside Mental Health, Eyes, The Niallist, Copyleft and The Evil Eye - not to mention putting out the "quasi-notorious" (Plan B), "dance-music-you-can't-dance-to" compilation/confrontation that is NORAVE.

The label now hosts a weekly radio show on Radio Magnetic (http://radiomagnetic.com/category/shows/little-rock/) with guest slots form the likes of local heroes Jackmaster, Killer Kitsch, Voltergeist, Frogpocket, Animal Farm and more. There's also occasional Little Rock parties in the Glasgow area, including the annual Halloween Rock'n'Shock bash, this year celebrating its sixth birthday with very special guests The Phantom Band.

If you have any questions or if you just wanna get in touch, you can reach us here at littlerockrecords@gmail.com and also info@littlerockrecords.com

Well, I know it's a lot of music but I hope you'll find something here you'll like!

Liam"

So, what have you got to lose? Nothing. And you might discover some great new music you may have otherwise missed.

Trashcan Sinatras - Tour Footage

Here's some excellent behind the scenes footage from the Trashcan Sinatras current jaunt around the USA. It's from an excellent site from Red Radio, based in California. Enjoy!

Travis Unplugged

As announced in Fran's blog at Travisonline, Fran and Andy are embarking on a tour of the US and Canada this October. Billed as 'An Evening with Fran Healy & Andy Dunlop', these shows offer fans a rare chance to hear the Travis back catalogue performed acoustically, in an intimate setting.

Due to popular demand, extra LA and NY dates have already been added to the tour schedule. So don't miss out on what promises to be a memorable run of shows.

Tickets for the Los Angeles and New York shows are already available. For onsale dates for other shows check the listing below, or visit our Live Dates page at Travisonline.
